Willow trailed off as she saw Fred's eyes glaze over and realized that something she had said triggered it.
"No, I'm sorry, Willow. But they don't want me anymore. Not after what I've done," She gazed up tearfully into the other woman's eyes as she continued, pleading, "I didn't mean to do it, I fought, I really did. But I did it anyhow. They wouldn't want me anymore."
Fred looked down again, the tears unwillingly falling. Suddenly, there was a noise outside. Fred's head snapped up. She looked plaintively at Willow.
"This is my first cave. I'm not very good at hiding," She said in a panicked voice. She ran and crouched behind the rock again as the demons entered the cave.
Willow did not know what was going to happen next, but it was clear to her that the memory would play out however Fred remembered it. It was a band of four demons and a male cow slave. He walked with his head down, knowing better than to look up.
One demon ran and grabbed Fred by the arm as she screamed and tried to pull away. He held a remote in his hand. He pushed the button and Fred was zapped as he told her to be a good cow. Willow was helpless to do anything but watch.
"Stupid cow. I don't know why we don't just butcher it and call it good," said the demon as he pulled her towards the others. Fred whimpered.
"There isn't enough of her to get a decent meal. Besides, if we breed her we'll get another cow out of the deal," said another demon.
Fred's eyes shot up as panic filled her whole body.
"No, please, I'll do what you want, I won't run away, just please, not that! I promise, but don't--" She was cut off by another shock from her collar.
"Shut up, you stupid old cow! You'll do what we want, when we want and right now we want you to breed with this cow. He's strong and will make strong offspring."
Willow watched in horror as the other three demons forced Fred to get on her hands and knees. It was like a car accident. Every part of you wants to look away, but you can't. Like your eyes are held open and forced to watch.
The first demon instructed the male 'cow' to mate with her. He removed his clothing and positioned himself behind her as Fred begged, cried, screamed and tried to get away. She was no match for the demons, though, and was held in place.
The first demon laughed.
"I don't know why they always fight the first few times, it's just mating," it said.
A tear fell down Willow's face as the memory faded out.

Chapter Nine

She knew this was going to be hard. That was a given, but she didn't know how hard until she'd witnessed what happened in the cave. Her heart ached for Fred. The things she'd seen, been through and overcame. How she functioned was a mystery to Willow. She guessed Fred was simply resilient.
Where was she now? There were moments of black in Fred's mind, that's where she was. But slowly the world around her began to take shape. She was outside in the sunshine, the sky was blue, and the grass was green. She looked over to the right and caught sight of...Fred?
To the right was a little girl, her Mama and Daddy. They were blowing bubbles and chasing each other around, giggling and smiling the whole time. A good memory. She was somewhat surprised that Fred had any of those. She wasn't sure she wanted to interrupt, who knew what the next one would be.
So she simply watched. Joy radiated off of the little girl. She must have been only two or three. So happy, so unaware of what pain her life would bring.
No sooner had the memory began than it faded out. They were suddenly in Fred's room. Willow looked around anxiously. Had the spell been broken somehow?
"Why are you here, Willow?" Fred asked, looking intently.
"Fred, you're in a time flux, or memory flux. Either way, I'm here to help. Everyone is worried about you, beating themselves up over what happened--" She began before being cut off.
"They don't want me anymore. They told me. You were there, you know," Fred said. There was no emotion in her voice, but her eyes told another story.
Willow knelt in front of the other woman.
"No, Fred. They want you. It was Angelus, just lies," She said.
"Angelus made them say those things?" Fred said, almost sarcastically.
"No, Fred, Angelus said he turned you. He made them think that you were a vampire. They thought you were dead," More emotion came to Willow's voice than she had intended.
Fred looked up hopefully. A misunderstanding? A simple misunderstanding could cause that much pain? They wanted her back? They still cared about her?
She began sobbing violently.
"What he did to me...I don't even want myself anymore. How could they want me? You don't understand....I didn't want to..."She said between sobs.
Willow was about to reach out to her when the scenery began changing again. They were in a small room. The only piece of furniture was a giant freezer. Her breath caught in her throat. This was the last place she wanted to be, but probably the most important place to be.
Fred was naked. Her hands were tied behind her back and she simply stared off into space. Willow surveyed the room, looking for Angelus. He was no where to be seen.
"Fred...what happens here?" Willow asked.
Fred didn't look up. Her entire body was covered with bruises and cuts. There was blood on the floor around her. Every inch of her hurt.
"I get hurt." She said without emotion.
Angelus entered the room as Fred simply cowered in the corner.
"Hello, sweetheart, did you miss me?" He asked cheerfully.
Fred didn't even acknowledge his presense.
"Oh, I think you did. I have some plans tonight. I think we'll just chill here for a while, is that okay with you?" He said in a mock-kind voice.
Fred began shaking. She knew what was going to happen. She remembered, yet she must relive the memory.
Angelus advanced without warning and Fred suddenly found herself on the floor. She squeaked from the shock, but then remained silent. She simply looked at the wall. There was a nail in it and she focused on it.
Angelus was inside her, but she just breathed. No other sounds came from her, she knew they would be in vain, so she remained silent. She wished he'd just kill her already. Her face showed no emotion.
After a several minutes he finished. He was somewhat disappointed that she didn't fight harder. He liked it when they fought. Truth be told, he seemed to be getting sick of her.
He jerked her up violently and she gasped from the roughness of it. His teeth sank into his usual spot. He was hungry. She began going limp.
Willow watched, knowing that she was close to death. Even though she knew that Fred survived, she couldn't help but wonder if she would die. Logic didn't apply here.
This was more emotionally draining than Willow could have imagined. She didn't know she could cry as much as she had in the last few...however long it had been.
Slowly, the world faded for both of them and darkness took over again.

Chapter 10

The world slowly came back into focus. Willow waited with dread to see what would happen next. Instead of the horror she'd been expecting, she viewed Fred's room. Fred was lying on the bed, just as she'd been when the spell began. In a short moment Willow realized that the spell had failed. She was out of Fred's mind.
Realizing that this could mean that Fred might also be gone, Willow walked slowly over to the bed. She was drained in every way possible, so it took her a few moments longer than it should have.
Slowly, she reached down and checked Fred's pulse. She breathed a sigh of relief when she felt the faint flutter.
She knew that she wasn't the one who could save Fred. She couldn't protect her and she couldn't reach her. She would consult with the group.

TBC

Feedback is always appreciated, good or bad. Just don't hate me for my fiction. It is my way to let out bad thoughts.

She asked.

The innocence in her voice struck Wesley to the core. She didn't remember her time with Angelus? So it was one of those days. Maybe this time he could reach her, make her come back to the present. Then again, maybe it was better if she didn't recall.

"No, not exactly. Fred, can you tell me what today is? The date?" Wesley said, sitting next to Fred. She scooted away slightly. Her eyes filled with tears again as she looked at Wesley. It didn't go unnoticed.

"I'm not sure Wesley, but it will pass soon," she whispered hoarsly.

Wesley decided to try another tactic. His love for her wouldn't let him give up on her and his only wish was simply to hold her and tell her everything would be alright. But logic got in the way; she would never be alright again. Even if she came back to reality, it would never be alright again. The reason she was out of touch with reality was to protect herself.

"Fred, can you please tell me why you are so sad?" Wesley asked innocently.

Fred began to speak, but suddenly the darkness began to cover her vision once again. She knew she would be traveling to another moment in time, she just wished it would be a good one.

Wesley watched as her eyes glazed over, knowing, for the moment at least, she was out of reach. He gently laid her down as she gazed with empty eyes. She wouldn't be eating any time soon, they could never seem to reach her in this state.

He was sharpening a knife, testing the blade on his finger. She was tied up in the corner, as she had been for some time. She watched his every move intently, waiting for the moment he'd come to her and exact his torture, what ever it may be this time.
"Fred, do you know how many shallow cuts you can give someone before they die?" Angelus asked with a smirk on his face.
Fred remained silent. She knew she could figure out the answer if she thought about it, but she didn't want to subject her self to that kind of mental torture. She knew what he was implying. Killing her wouldn't be any fun for him, torturing her was much more entertaining.
Slowly, he got up, knife in hand, and walked over to her. He knelt in front of her, putting the knife gently on her throat. She instinctively lifted her head and swallowed nervously. He gently pricked the skin, causing small droplets of blood to appear. He switched into his vampire face and licked the droplets. He sensed the fear rise from inside her. It made him smile as he switched back into his human face.
"Fred...oh, the things I'm going to do to you. It's a shame really, you're such a sweet girl," he said before he grabbed her by the hair and lifted her to her feet.
She yelped from the pain in her scalp and the fear of what else he was going to do. She was still strong, still silently defying him. He couldn’t' have that. He turned her to face the wall and pushed her roughly against it. The wall scratched her face and she tried to pull away from it, but the force holding her would not budge.
Angelus relieved himself of his pants and held his erection between her legs. He was waiting, dragging it out to hurt her more. Physical torture was fun, but nothing compared to what you could do mentally.
Fred started shaking as she tried to mentally prepare herself for the assault. She tried to control it, but she could not contain herself as she let a whimper out.
That was all the encouragement he needed as he pushed her even harder against the wall. He roughly spread her legs apart and, with no concern for her, buried his erection inside her.
She screamed into her mouth as she clenched her teeth. She was still tender from the previous assaults and every thrust seemed to get harder and harder. He'd had centuries to perfect his torture methods and it seemed he was putting them to good use.
She forced herself to stay silent, resisting the urge to beg him to stop. She knew it would be futile anyhow, but even more, she didn't want to give him that luxury.
After a fashion he pulled out of her and she almost let herself believe that it was over, but she quickly realized that that was not the case. Spinning her around and forcing her to her knees he said two words.
"Open your mouth."
She refused, keeping her teeth clenched tightly as the tears fell of their own accord. He angrily grabbed her by the throat and began squeezing her air supply off. After a few moments she opened her mouth trying to gasp for air. Angelus took advantage and shoved his erection deep in her throat. He held his cock in one hand and grabbed her hair with the other, forcing her to take it deep in her mouth. She sobbed, gagged and choked until he finally spilled his dead seed in her mouth. She tried to throw -up, but he quickly held he mouth shut as he instructed her to swallow it. With watery eyes she finally complied. Using her hair, he tossed her to the ground, forcing her on her stomach. He reached over to the knife he had been sharpening and held it in front of her face.
"Let's see how many cuts it takes for you to lose consciousness, alright Fred?"
Fred squeezed her eyes shut as he began making the shallow cuts into her back. After what seemed like a millennia, the darkness finally took her.

Wesley was leaning over her, just watching her. She jumped up in the bed and surveyed the room for Angelus. It looked like it was her room. As she caught sight of the window, she realized it was daylight and sunshine was seeping in through it. She eased back down and finally looked at a very concerned Wesley. Where was she at now?

Chapter 6

Wesley had been watching Fred for sometime. Just watching her, trying to find a way to reach her. He was thinking of calling Willow and doing some sort of spell when Fred suddenly jumped up. She had that deer in the headlights look as she gazed feverishly around the room. After a moment she seemed to calm down and finally made eye contact with him. She didn't smile. Her eyes still radiated the fear from what she had just experienced.
She could withstand the torture and anything that Angelus threw her way, but not this, not constantly being reminded of everything she had lost. Here Wesley loved and cared about Fred, but she knew that he would turn on her in the future. She wondered if she was in hell, if she had died on the bench and was now in hell, being forced to relive every aspect of her life. The thought had occurred to her many times, but she wasn't sure.
Wesley slowly reached out and touched her hand. She jumped and pulled it away, fear cascading through her eyes once again.
"I'm sorry," said Wesley, "I didn't mean to startle you."
The tears refused to stay in her eyes as she began to sob violently. Without thinking, Wesley took her in his arms. He was surprised when she didn't pull away. Instead she clung to him for dear life as every pent up tear began falling.
After a few moments, she pulled away and wiped her eyes. She tried to force a little smile, but couldn't make it reach her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Wes," She finally spoke, "I didn't mean to get all blubbery."
He smiled softly.
"Fred, why were you crying?" He asked timidly.
She thought for a moment. She might as well tell him what he'd do in the future; she'd jump out of this memory soon anyhow.
"I was crying because of you...and Gunn, and Cordelia, and Connor, and Lorne."
It wasn't the answer he was expecting. It was the one he had dreaded. It was their betrayal that had caused this. He began feeling the guilt that had been stalking him hit him full blast.
"What did we do, Fred?" He asked, knowing, but hoping it wasn't the answer.
"You....you were angry with me. You thought I'd done something...and I did." It was as if she couldn't find the words, couldn't phrase them right.
"Wesley, I'm hungry," she said, trying to change the subject.
His eyes sparked. It was the first time she'd asked for food. He quickly got the neglected sandwich off the tray and handed it to her. To his surprise, she ate it. And then she spoke again.
"I'm sorry, Wesley, but I'm very tired. I can't seem to keep my eyes open," she said as she lay back down on the bed.
"Alright, I'll let you rest, but call me if you need anything," he said as he began to get up.
"Um... Wesley? Could you...stay with me until I fall asleep? Please?" She said timidly and quietly.
"Of course," he said as one eyebrow involuntarily rose.
As he sat beside her, he rubbed her hair out of her eyes until they finally closed and sleep took her.
'Now that was progress,' he thought.
It was time to talk to Willow. They could do a spell tomorrow.

Chapter Seven

They all gathered around the lobby at the Hyperion. Wesley had proposed what to do and now it was on Willow if she could do it or not.
"I can do it, but there are some risks. I did it with Buffy when Glory took Dawn, but this might be a little more complicated. I'm guessing Fred's mind might be a little harder to navigate. Plus the risk of both our heads exploding is kind of a downer."
"Buffy's head didn't explode, right?" Cordy asked, cringing.
Willow just rolled her eyes.
"I'm not saying that it will happen, but it could. I could also get lost in there; it could take hours, even days. It's like super-therapy, only where the therapist literally goes into the other person's mind. I can do it; I’m just trying to weigh all the options."
"Alright, if you do this we can get Fred back, right?" Gunn asked.
"That's just it. I don't know. This isn't a cut and dry thing. There are no absolute answers. There's a chance we can get Fred back, but there are no guarantees in this one. Sorry, guys."
They were all silent. This whole situation was terrible. They all felt guilt. Wesley had explained everything that had happened, everything Fred had said, what little it might have been. Finally, an unlikely voice broke the silence.
"Willow," Angel said, "If you go into her mind...the things Angelus did...you need to be mentally prepared. If there's any chance of getting Fred back, I think we should do it. I don't want to lose her."
That settled it. Willow would do the spell that night. She took Angel aside before hand and explained to him that no matter what Angelus did to Fred, she knew that it wasn't him. Fred knew that, too. Angel didn't respond. He knew it wasn't him, but it felt like it was him, he saw himself doing it. He felt responsible.

The Spell Begins
Author's Note:
From here the story is going to get kind of hard to follow so please bear with me. It might make sense at the end. After the spell is cast it will only involve Willow and Fred's point of view. I hope you like it.

TBC

<u2:p></u2:p>

She was even able to chalk everything Angelus said about them as the truth being cleverly distorted, until the kiss.
Angelus. He wore the face of her savior, but everything he said proved it wasn't her beloved Angel. Angel wasn't gone, but he was not in the body that wore his face. The demon was the thing she had seen in its true form back in Pylea. It hadn't frightened her as much in Pylea as it did now. She supposed that she was just crazy enough in Pylea to not be too afraid of it. But here, with it looking and, sometimes, acting like Angel...something about that was absolutely terrifying to her.
He has escaped, killed the beast, and resumed his stalking of them. Thank goodness for the sanctuary spell. She felt safe in the Hyperion, a lot safer than outside the walls, even with the sun back.
Little did Fred know that she was not safe anywhere. As she rummaged through old books someone watched her, laughing bitterly to himself. She looked like a lone lamb unaware it was about to be devoured by a wolf. The furies loved both Angel and Angelus and did not separate the two. They were immortal so they had nothing to fear from either form of the vampire. It didn't take much convincing to get them to take off the spell.
Angelus hadn't decided, per say, that Fred was going to be his new obsession, but it seemed like the most logical choice as he watched her fumble around the small office. He reminded her of someone else from a long time ago. He considered Drusilla his masterpiece, but was beginning to think that Fred might outdo Dru.
He slowly inched closer, his vampyric hearing listening to everything she was saying to herself. She had no fear in her scent. She smelled sweet. He loved that smell. Innocence was a huge turn on in a girl and Fred was covered in it. Yes, he had heard her and Gunn at night, but her innocence still came off of her in waves.
Finally, her back was toward him as she mentioned a book being filed wrong. Typical Fred. Numbers and systems were what kept her grounded. Five years in a Hell and she hadn't even taken the plunge to be completely crazy. He'd see if he could do better. If he stripped every system away from her, made her forget how to even count to ten, would she lose it? He had made Dru lose it and he didn't know for sure if she had the predisposition to being crazy. Fred already had it.
He made his presence known by remarking on her talking to herself. Oh, the waves of fear that came off of her at the sound of his voice. He smiled softly to himself.
She spoke about how he couldn't hurt her here because of that stupid old sanctuary spell. She was babbling slightly.
He decided not to answer her verbally. Instead he quickly moved to push her up against the wall, making sure her head bounced off the wall slightly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, did that hurt?" He asked with mock concern. She reached for the tranq-gun, but her hand was quickly pulled above her head, his hand beginning to crush her small wrist.
"Wh-what do you want?" She asked, her fear affecting her voice.
"I already have it," He whispered as he licked her neck, feeling her pulse with his tongue. With one swift move he had managed to push everything off the desk and bend her over it, as if she was nothing but a pose able doll, despite her whole-hearted struggles.
"Everyone will be home soon...and if they catch you they'll kill you," She said in an attempt to dissuade him from what she knew he was going to do.
Angelus laughed, feeling her body trembling in fear as he pushed himself up against her. She sucked in her breath as she felt what was behind her, hidden only by cloth. She screamed and tried to wiggle her way out of his grasp. She tried to kick him, but he simply pinned her legs down with his own. He lifted her head by pulling her hair up toward his face.
"Struggle Fred," he whispered very calmly, "It only makes it that much more enjoyable."
Reverse psychology always worked like a charm. It was as if she was so shocked his words that she forgot to struggle for a moment. He seized the opportunity and pulled her pants down, ripping the button off and tearing the seams just enough to get them off. She yelped at the roughness of it, the tears finally falling as she knew there was nothing she could do to stop him. She may have realized this, but it wasn't going to stop her from fighting.
With one hand on the small of her back, Angelus used the other to remove his own pants, completely freeing himself from the binds of clothing.
Fred, realizing that this was the do or die kind of moment upped her attempts to escape. She wiggled and clawed the desk, screaming and begging someone to come.
Angelus laughed with a sinister look in his eye. He took the side of her panties, the only thing stopping him from completely taking her, and pulled. The panties gave under his vampire strength. He ripped the other side and then placed the small piece of cloth in his shirt pocket.
He used his hand to reach between her legs and was pleased with what he found. Even if her mind wouldn't willingly react, her body did.
He leaned over and licked her neck once again, holding his manhood just outside of her most sacred area.
"Fred, you're wet for me," he whispered as she sobbed a little harder. Her own body had betrayed her. She didn't want Angelus and yet her body was making it easier for him. She loathed the demon. She didn't even want Angel in that way. Yes, she had had a crush on Angel in the beginning, but it was a natural response to him saving her from hell. Since then, they had acquired sister-brother affection for one another.
It was ironic, Angel had rescued her from Hell and now Angelus was sending to another much worse one.
Angelus held her hips still, while the rest of her body struggled against him in vain. He decided that this time was going to be about pain as he roughly plunged himself inside her. She yelped slightly as she clawed the desk even harder and her eyes darted back and forth frantically trying to find some way or thing that could save her from the invading presence inside her. He was much larger than most men and her body's reaction was very negative. Any wetness she had recently had disappeared, making it that much more painful.
Every time he pushed himself inside her was more painful than the last. She felt as if he was tearing her to shreds with every movement. She slowly stopped fighting, realizing the more she fought, the more he hurt her. When he finally finished she just lay across the desk, not moving, just crying.
Angelus realized she was broken, but not beat. She still held on to herself. He hadn't consumed her yet. There would be enough time for that.
As he stepped away from her to put his pants on her resolve and will to survive came back to her in a rush, realizing that this might be her only chance to escape with her life. She darted for the door and managed touch the handle before Angelus slammed her head forward against the door causing a large gash across her forehead. Dazed, she fell rather gracefully to the floor, drifting somewhere in-between consciousness and unconsciousness. Angelus took her torn panties and covered them in blood from the gash.
He took out a pen and paper from the desk and wrote on it, before pinning the panties on top of it and into the newly cleared desk.
He picked up Fred and carried her out of the hotel.
On the note he wrote two simple words: Love, Angelus. Yeah, that ought to get their attention.

Chapter Two

Their latest lead had turned out to be a set up. They were instead led straight into a nest of vampires who were fairly pissed that the sun had come back. Apparently they blamed Angel Inc. for it.
They had managed to kill all the vamps, but it had taken a lot longer than they had first thought it would. At least Fred was safe in the hotel. Got to love spells that keep demons from performing violence.
As they entered the hotel all that could be heard was some classical music coming from the office. It seemed kind of out of character for Fred, but everyone was too tired to take much notice. Only Cordelia decided to comment on it.
"Hey, Gunn, when did Fred get into Bach?"
"I think its Mozart, but I'm not sure. She's been going through a lot of changes," He said glancing at Wesley.
It didn't go unnoticed by anyone, but all parties decided to ignore it.
"Hmm," Cordy said after a moment, "She's sure got that stuff blasting. I'll go in there in a minute and ask if she could turn it down. I think she might be okay with that seeing as she wasn't the one vampire wrestling."
Everyone nodded. Gunn decided to head up stairs and take a shower while the rest of the group began to lounge around the lobby. After a spell of sitting for a moment Lorne spoke up.
"Now I love music, but Fredikin really does have it awful loud," he said rubbing his forehead.
"I'll go ask her to turn it down," Cordelia said lazily getting up.
As she opened the door she was surprised and disturbed to find that the light was off. Her breath caught in her throat as she realized something was very wrong with this picture.
"Fred," she whispered into the darkness. Her sudden stop and the darkness of the office got the attention of the rest of the group. As the others approached her, she switched the light on.
The office was in a state of disarray. Books and papers were spread across the floor. The desk that had been completely covered when they had left now only had two items on it: a red cloth and a piece of paper beneath it.
Conner entered the room first, his super senses taking over. The others remained frozen at the door.
He examined the desk, noting the scratch marks on the desk and recognizing the smell of both Fred and Angelus very strong in the room. He had instantly known that the cloth was covered with Fred's blood. He could swear he could still smell Fred's fear
"Connor, can you tell what happened here?" Cordelia asked, breaking his concentration slightly.
"Someone clawed the desk," He said tracing the marks on the desk, "Both Fred and Angelus were here. That's hers," He continued pointing at the red cloth.
Gunn had forgotten to clean his ax and he didn't want the blood on it to dry, it was much harder to get off. He was distracted by the others staring into the office. He recognized the panties instantly as Connor unpinned them and lifted the note.
"Love, Angelus," He read without emotion as their worst fears were confirmed.
Both Gunn and Wesley felt their world fall to pieces as their minds put together what had happened.
Far across town Fred was coming to. She didn't know where she was, but memories of what had just happened came back to her flooding her memory. She vomited on the floor as the realization that it was real sank in. It was then that she realized that she was naked.
He had been watching her, contemplating everything he was planning on doing to her, but it wasn't as much fun if she was unconscious. So he waited, just watching and thinking. He planned on using every torture device he knew on her. There were four main categories: blunt, sharp, hot and cold, but with in them were infinite possibilities. He had left her for a while he went and bought, or actually stole, ice to fill the giant freezer that this small one room apartment already had. The building was abandoned, but the electricity still worked. He assumed people just up and left after the sun disappeared, either that or they were dead. He hoped for the latter.
He smiled sickly as she wretched on the floor. He must have done a good job earlier. Stripping her was also a good idea since it would make hurting her easier. He grinned again as their eyes met.
She instinctively retreated to the corner like a wounded animal. She could feel her heart pounding so she knew that she wasn't turned. He slowly approached her and knelt in front of her. She was cornered and she silently cursed herself for going there. Not that there was many other places to go, the windows were all boarded up and the door had three padlocks on it. Deep inside she knew it was a hopeless situation.
He loved the way she reacted to him. He reached out his hand and she flinched. He smiled. He could begin.
"Now I understand why Wesley and Gunn are fighting over you. I have to admit you're amazing in bed," he said as he laughed and she simply looked at the floor, "It's kind of ironic, though, isn't it? They're fighting about who gets to bone you next while I'm actually the next one on the list. So, tell me, when is it Lorne's turn? I mean you've been intimate with everyone except him in one way or another. I guess you haven't gotten to Cordy or Connor yet. Unless you had a lot of fun during Angel's sea-faring adventure."
Fred's eyes were glazing over. She was trying not to hear the words that were cutting her to the core. She realized that was an oxymoron, but decided not to pursue it further.
Angelus gently touched her cheek and then moved down to her chin, lifting her chin to look at him. He could see the unshed tears. They gave him a rush. The cut in her forehead brought out a hunger in him. He had thought a head at least and had raided the hospital's blood bank, what was left of it, and got several bags in A+, Fred's blood type, as well as several IV's should he go a little overboard before he meant to.
His gentle touch suddenly turned rough as he morphed into his demon face. Her fear exploded into his senses as he jerked her forward and, despite her attempts to stop it, bit into her neck, savoring the metallic-bitter sweet taste of her blood. He felt her begin to go limp and her heart race and then begin to slow. He stopped himself from drinking too much, he didn't want her unconscious or dead yet. It was no fun when they aren't awake.
But now any strength she had managed was gone, she was completely at his mercy. He wasn't going to let that go to waste. He threw her on the floor and laughed as she tried to simply lift her own weight. She could barely lift her head. He freed himself from his pants and turned her over so she was lying on her stomach. He then lifted her hips and held himself against her. The thought occurred to Fred that that was the wrong one when he pushed himself in.
For the rest of the night her screams could be heard on and off, but the neighborhood was abandoned. No one was there to rescue her. Finally, her screams subsided as blackness consumed her, at least for a while. He still wasn't done. So long as she had any intention to fight or scream, she wasn't completely torn to shreds. He could wait, but for now he had to play with the rest of the group.

Chapter Three

The trail had gone cold. Connor and the others had tried to tack Angelus and Fred, but the trail had gone cold in the middle of L.A. They had run into a few vampires trying to make them 'pay' for making the sun come back, but they were dealt with even more swiftly than usual. But it was no use; there was no sign of either Fred or Angelus.
It had been two days since they had found the office empty and realized that the world would never be the same again. Even if they managed to get Angel back, he would have a hard time living with what he'd done just to Fred alone. He had saved Fred from Pylea; she represented the mission and the good that could come of it. Now she would represent how catastrophic releasing Angelus had been in the end. And Fred. . . she'd survived hell once, but this was different. Angel had been her protector. How would she cope? If she survived anyhow. . .
The group returned after surveying the surrounding blocks for any sign of them yet again. They hated to admit it, but they were starting to give up hope.
Angelus sat on the poof in the middle of the lobby, his hands behind his neck patiently waiting for the group of do-gooders to get home. He looked very relaxed, thinking of the best way to mentally torture them with info on Fred. He smiled after he devised the best story. No, it was fairly far from the truth, but it did make a good story, and one they would believe at that.
Cordelia entered first, saying something to Gunn as she walked through the door, but stopped mid-sentence as she saw Angelus. Gunn actually ran into her, giving her a strange look before spotting Angelus. He took off running full-speed, his axe held above his head and to the side.
"Whoa, there Chuck," Angelus said making a swift move to get out of the way, "If you kill me now you might not ever find your dear, sweet Fred. I mean, do you really want to risk it?"
"Where is she?" Gunn said through clenched teeth, the axe still held in battle position.
"Now if I told you it wouldn't be any fun, besides, you might not like what I have to say. Dear, sweet Fred, she really is sweet, you know. Quite a fire-ball in bed, too," Angelus said, having to move quickly after the last sentence caused Gunn to again advance.
"Angelus, please, we just want her back," Cordelia said, slowly moving towards the vampire that wore the face of the man she loved.
"Oh, you'll get her back," Angelus said and then jumped, or flew, up to the balcony above the lobby.
"She's probably gonna be on her way here after she's fed," he said over the ledge, "I consider her by best piece of art. A true masterpiece. You know she barely fought when I bit her, she was too tired from our night of fun. But, man, that girls got some fire in her heart. Especially now. I'll tell her you want to see her. I'm sure she'll pay you a visit soon."
And with that he was gone. The group was too shocked and grieved to chase him. Fred was gone. At least the Fred they'd known, now a demon was wearing her face. They didn't hear the door open until a familiar voice said hello.
The red-headed woman stood there with her bag over her shoulder. They were taken aback to see her there. They hadn't seen her since she'd told them that Buffy had died and now she was here, with inexplicable timing.
"Willow," Cordelia said after a moment. They could definitely use a witch right about now.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Wesley, his voice heavy with emotion from the news that they had all recently received, "Did the call of magic bring you here?"
"No, more like the call of Fred. She called me a couple of days ago, but I wasn't able to get up here until now," She said smiling. She felt that that response may have been the wrong one when Wesley's head dropped and Cordy's eyes welled over.
"Where is Fred?" She cautiously asked. She had only met the girl once, but she had liked her. A little crazy, but she reminded Willow of herself. A little shy, a little goofy, but a sweet and incredibly smart girl.
Lorne sat down on the poof and put his head in his hands. He tried not to think too much. He loved Fred more than he thought possible. No, not in any romantic way, but he reminded her of a sister. She had lived in Pylea, so she understood why he hated it there so much. Heck, she was the one who brought him to L.A. when she accidentally opened that book and opened the portal to Pylea. To think that she was really gone make him sick to his stomach. He tried not to think too hard, but his memory kept flooding with pictures of Fred.
Connor was the one who answered Willow.
"Angelus took her a couple of days ago. He turned her. She's gone," he said with little emotion in his voice. Not that he didn't care, but he had very mixed feelings toward Fred, toward the entire group for that matter, except maybe Cordelia. Fred had acted like a mother to him while Angel was resting at the bottom of the ocean, and then, when they had found out what he had done, tazered him without a second thought. That had made him very angry, though he did tazer her very shortly thereafter. He had forgiven her as well as he knew how. He did feel sorrow at her passing, but was too well trained not to show it. Better to act callused and uncaring then to show any weakness.
Faith glared at Connor for his bluntness. She understood where he came from, but he could still use a little more tact. She liked Fred, but didn't know her all that well. Fred seemed kind of weak to her at first, but after learning her story, Faith realized that Fred was very strong, mentally and emotionally if not physically.
"Sorry, Wil, Angelus was just here and told us about Fred. I assume he wanted to rub it in our faces. But maybe now that you're here you can help us put the demon back inside Angel."
Willow hadn't expected that. She sighed heavily. Yes, she had found a way to get Angel's soul into the Orb of Thesula, even if the Moh-Ping was immune to magic. The spell would summon the soul from where ever it was at, no matter what. But it was bittersweet now. She knew that Angel would have a hard time forgiving himself for killing Fred. Heck, the First, the big bad they were fighting back in Sunnydale, nearly got him to kill himself over killing Jenny Calendar and others. He didn't even know Miss Calendar that well, he saw and talked to Fred on a daily bases.
"I'll start the spell," she said after a minute. The others nodded in agreement.

He was finally awake. She entered the cave with the berries and took note that he looked better. She put the berries in the pot of what she called oatmeal.
"Did I snore?" He asked after the funny look she gave him.
"I don't remember any snoring," She said and paused a moment before continuing, "I remember caterwauling- aah!"
He jumped slightly at her sudden outburst before apologizing for his sleep behavior.
"It's alright. Sometimes you have bellow a little. . . "

Angelus entered the dimly lit apartment carrying a loaf of bread. Fred was where he'd left her. Her eyes were closed, her skin deathly pale and lips the color of purple. She'd stop shaking violently and not only trembled slightly. Her heart had slowed down to a dangerous pace, so he decided to take her out of the ice. He couldn't tell if she was conscious or not, but hoped that she had stayed awake during her icy stay.
"Fred," he said sadistically as he pulled off the blindfold. Her eyes opened slowly as she began shivering violently again, her blood beginning to move fast again. She was unwillingly remembering one of her first encounters with Angel. It surprised her a little bit to remember how kind he had been. He was an angel compared to his alter ego.
"I brought you some bread," he said sweetly.
She wondered for a while if it was poisoned, then decided that that wouldn't be his style. Besides, she was too starving to care. He untied her hands before tossing the bag to her. She nearly ate the whole thing.
He noticed how pale she still looked and smiled. His little joke was going to be funny and her pallor was going to play perfectly into it. He decided he'd take a little more blood from her and put her back 'on ice' for a while before he sent her back to them. He'd be watching from a distance, of course, anxious to see what would happen.
She no longer screamed and he wondered what was going through her mind when he raped her. She didn't even fight back, which was a little disappointing, part of why he was sending her back. She needed more mental torment. But for now she was back in her own little world, not smiling, not crying; just sitting still.
He needed to set her up a little more before taking her back, though.
"So I visited our old friends today," He said as she looked up. Hopefully. He was pleased.
"They're fairly mad at us, both of us," The hope was replaced with confusion and worry.
"I told them what all I did to you. I was expecting them to feel angry toward me, but instead they were mad at you. Gunn mentioned how easily you gave it up to him and how he shouldn't be surprised how easily you gave it up to me. Wesley said you aren't the same Fred he cared about, how he'll remember you the way you were, but that you were dead to him. They mentioned how you were just a shell now, just shreds of what you used to be. Cordy, that hypocrite, mentioned how sleeping with me was just as bad as turning evil. Lorne actually called you a slut. I tried to tell them that I forced you, but they said they knew you too well to know that. You had a crush on Angel in the beginning, so maybe you couldn't discern between the two of us. Connor, my boy, actually wanted to kill you, but I don't think they will. They agreed, however, that you were dead to them. "
He saw her fall to pieces in front of him. He'd tortured her enough for her to not be able to tell what was logically capable of happening and what wasn't. She was crazy enough to believe everything he said without questioning, he'd been planting these thoughts in her head since the beginning. It was just after 10:00 pm, so there was enough time to still send her back to the hotel tonight and, with her believing him, it was sure to be a good show.
"However, I have decided to let you go. . . tonight, actually," she barely looked up, her face not showing any hope, only apprehension.
She yelped slightly when he pounced on her and drank a small amount of blood, just enough to make sure her pallor lasted long enough before putting her back in the ice, making sure even her head was covered. She had learned not to fight back and just gave in. He waited ten minutes before taking her back out and clothing her. She then willingly walked out of the apartment with him, her legs beginning to feel like jelly from the cold and lack of blood.
Tonight was going to be fun, Angelus thought.

Chapter Four

Angelus had left her almost a block ago. She now stood in front of the Hyperion Hotel, her knees threatening to buckle at almost any moment. She wanted to go home and this hotel was the only home she'd known for over a year. For five years before that a cave was home. She couldn't even think about her parents. They probably wouldn't want her anymore either. She was worthless. Angelus had taken everything that had made her something. Had she given it to him? She couldn't quite remember. The last few days were so jumbled and past memories were starting to make her days go out of order. She felt like she was in a time flux, constantly going in and out of different times. Sometimes she was home in Texas, other times she was in the Hotel with Gunn, and then, just as soon as she believed she really was there, she was back in the apartment, her eyes covered and her hands bound. Then she was in the cave again. Now she was in front of the Hyperion, in current time, she believed.
Cautiously she tried her legs. One moved in front of the other and then vice versa until she was in front of the doors. She could see the others sitting around the lobby reading books, staring into space, or just pacing frantically. Gunn was sharpening his axe. A red-head walked across the room caring some herbs and other magically inclined objects. She set them on the front counter before turning around, facing the door where Fred stood. Fred recognized her as Willow and was a little happy that she had come, hopefully to re-ensoul Angel. However, as Willow caught sight of her she grew pale and just stared. Fred realized Angelus must have told her about everything that had happened. She was probably more angry at her than the others, she's known Angelus and his evil before, heck, she'd been the one who put his soul back after he and Buffy. . . she probably hated Fred for giving into him more than anyone.
The others took note of her gaze and caught sight of the pale woman outside the door. They didn't recognize her at first, thinking maybe she was a client. Then it clicked. Everyone stood.
She didn't know why, but somewhere deep inside her she managed to muster up the courage to enter the hotel.
Gunn approached, axe still in hand.
"You aren't welcome here," He said to the woman he had once loved, or the demon that wore her face.
She sighed. She had almost let herself believe that maybe Angelus was lying, but now it was clear that he hadn't. Even so, she was reluctant to leave, even if they hated her, she wanted to be around them. They were safe, normal to her.
"Angelus told you. . ." she started, face toward the floor.
"Yes, we know what you are," Wesley said more kindly than he meant to. He knew it wasn't her, but he still couldn't be cross with her.
"We should kill her," said Connor, as he advanced. She stepped back, Angelus was right.
"Connor," Said Cordelia sharply.
"It's not Fred anymore. We can't just let her go. Faith, you have to agree with me," He said, looking toward the slayer.
She refused to meet his gaze, knowing he was right, but knowing they couldn't do it in front of everyone else. They could track her later and do it in private.
"Fred, I'm sorry about what happened to you. I'll never forgive myself for not protecting you. But what's done is done and I advise you to leave. Now," Wesley said, surprised to see the pain in her eyes as she met his gaze.
She figured she had no choice. Apparently, if she stayed here, she'd be killed. As much as she wanted to stay, she wanted to live more. Or at least not let them do it. She turned on her heels and walked out the door, looking back hesitantly before exiting. She didn't know where she was going to go, but she knew she was going to need to sit down soon. She felt dizzy from the lack of blood. Angelus had nearly drained her several times before giving her a transfusion. This last time he hadn't and she was weak and sick feeling. She was shaking. She didn't want to live anymore, she was nothing of what she used to be. Pylea had been bad, but it had never hurt her like this had. She had never had any friends in Pylea, now the ones she had here hated her.
She sat down on a bench and then fell over lying on her side. Silently she hoped that Angelus had taken too much blood as her mind went blank.
The spell was almost finished when Angelus dropped down from the balcony, determine to stop the witch. Luckily, Gunn, Connor, Wesley, Faith and even Lorne helped keep him off her while she finished. A light went through his eyes as he dropped to his knees in pain.
He looked around for a while questioning where he was before one picture came to mine: Fred.
He wretched on the floor remembering everything he'd done to her.
"Oh God, Fred," he said as tears fell down his face. He had seen what had just transpired between her and the group and remembered the jolly way Angelus had laughed, until Willow started her spell. Thank God for Willow.
"Yeah, we just saw her," said Wesley, his voice filled with grief. He knew Angel wasn't responsible for what was done to Fred, but he would still grieve in front of him.
Angel returned to his senses and stood up, knowing he needed to find Fred right away.
"We've got to find her," He said, his head spinning a little as he stood.
"See, even Angel agrees with me," Connor said as he grabbed a stake.
"Connor put the stake back. Angelus lied to you, and Fred. She's not dead, but with as much blood as Angelus took she will be in a while. Oh, God, Angelus set it up perfectly, everyone played straight into his hands," Angel said and then looked at the confused looks on his friends faces. He decided to clarify, "I told Fred you all hated her. She was just crazy enough after the torture to believe me- uh, Angelus. I made her believe you thought she went with him willingly. We need to find her."
Angel started to walk outside before realizing that time had escaped him and the sun was rising. God, it might be too late.
"You mean Fred isn't dead, or undead?" Gunn asked, his voice full of disbelief. Fred had looked dead.
"She might be now," Angel said quietly, "Connor you need to track her and bring her back here. Take Wesley and Willow with you."
Maybe Willow would know some kind of healing spell, Angel rationalized, praying that Fred was still alive.
Connor caught her scent just outside the hotel. She's made it several blocks away and to a park. They saw her lying very still on a park bench, very pale in the bright morning sun.
Wesley was immediately at her side and reaching for her pulse. He sighed with relief as he felt the flutter beneath his fingertips. He nodded to the others with a slight smile before the tears fell.
He gently took her in his arms and was concerned with how light she was. Slowly they made their way back to the hotel. Angel greeted them as they entered the room, the tears coming to his eyes once again seeing Angelus's latest handiwork in front of him anew.
Gunn also met them and led them to the blanket on the floor he and Cordy had laid out. Wesley gently laid her on it making sure the pillow was comfortably placed beneath her head.
"How is she?" Gunn asked cautiously.
"Alive," Wesley replied, "But we need to get her some help. She's terribly dehydrated. Cordelia, could you get her some water?"
Cordelia ran to the sink with a glass and filled it full. Angel got some smelling salt from a drawer and then bent over Fred and waved the salt in front of her nose. Slowly, she turned her head from side to side and then slowly opened her eyes.
Wesley held the water to her lips and told her to drink. The water smelled so good and she greedily drank the water. Wesley ordered another glass full and Fred also greedily drank that before succumbing to the black again.
Wesley laid her head back down. He was debating whether or not to take her to the hospital. Her clothes were torn, blood coating parts of them. Her face was pretty much untouched, but he could see the bruises on her arms and knew that it was likely the rest of her body was covered with them. God, what she had been through.
Angel simply sat in the corner watching, guilt seeping out of every pore. Right now he was the only one who knew how severe Fred's injuries were. For him it was like watching a horror movie, only he was the psycho killer. He couldn't stop what was happening, only watch the memories after it was already done. He never would have hurt Fred, he loved Fred very dearly. She reminded him of his own sister from long ago. He had killed her, too. She thought he was an angel returning to her. That's where he got the nickname Angelus, which later turned into Angel after he was ensouled by the gypsies.
Gunn looked at the small, fragile form of the woman he still loved. He remembered what he had just said to her hours earlier and imagined how it had sounded to her. She was returned home only to be turned out by the very people who had wanted to save her. Gunn hated to admit it, but he didn't know Fred all that well, not on a deep level. He wasn't sure if she could come back from this. Pylea had nearly broken her, Angelus had nearly broken her, but, Gunn believed, her friends turning their backs on her would probably be the last straw: she might not be able to come back from that. He replayed the conversation from earlier over and over again in his mind. In his memory he saw their words shake her to the core, her face showing how deep their words cut her. They should have known she wasn't a vampire, no vampire could show that much emotion.
She packed the rest of her suitcase as her father rattled on about how he didn't see why she had to go all the way to California. He did it out of love, but she just felt like he was being over-protective.
"I don't see why it has to be this way. There are plenty of good schools in the area," Roger said as his daughter and wife shuffled around the room.
"And I have a nice room, and I could meet a nice boy and we could get married and live in my room and have sweet babies that could sleep in the drawer," Fred said, playing with her Daddy.
"He'd have to be a smallish sorta fella," her mother played along with her.
"Daddy, I love ya like pancakes, but I'm getting the hell out of here."
"Language," Trish said, correcting her daughter.
"She should say it, that's where she's going: Hell-A."
"It Los Angeles, the City of Angels," She said.
"And if you meet one angel there I'll eat the dog. . ."
The room began to take shape again as the memory-dream began to fade away as the room began to focus. She wondered what time she was in, seeing as she was back at the Hyperion. She was so dizzy and every muscle ached. She tried to sit up, but the swift black that began to take over her vision forced her to lay back down.
Wesley was suddenly at her side, holding her hand, saying, asking her something she couldn't quite understand. The black was lingering longer than she wished. Slowly, she opened her eyes again and looked into his face, surprised at the tears filling his eyes. He was asking her if she wanted some water. Another figure, a shadow figure, handed him a glass full of and then came into focus. Cordelia had unshed tears in here eyes as well as she softly stroked her hair.
Fred allowed them to put the glass to her lips and drank slowly. She was thirsty, but not as much as she had been earlier. Too many questions filled her mind. Normally she just replayed the memories, but she couldn't place this one.
"Where am I?" she asked softly.
She saw the look of concern Wesley and Cordelia shared and was uncertain how to react. Was this when she was still pretty crazy from Pylea?
"Fred, do you know who we are?" Wesley asked slowly.
That was a silly question, she thought as she gave him a funny look. His question was almost laughable.
"That's a weird question, Wes," she said and then closed her eyes again, her strength waning.
Slowly, she turned her head to the side and waited 'til the spots disappeared to opened her eyes. Angel was sitting on the poof watching her. She gasped first and then realized that it had to be Angel, they wouldn't just let Angelus sit there unattended. Cordelia and Wesley followed her gaze and realized it might be too much for her to see Angel right now, but Fred spoke again before they had a chance to get him out of there.
"Is Angel...Angel?" She asked.
Wesley nodded, not sure what else to do. The next question caught them off guard.
"What year is it?" She asked, still trying to figure out where the memory took place.
Weird, Wesley and Cordy shared that same concerned look. She must be crazy again, or still. Slowly, she felt the black take over her vision again and she was back in the apartment with Angelus.
